Requiem for Article Marketing – too slow to keep up.

Posted by Thrivelearning on September 17, 2012

Is Article Marketing Dead?

Photo credit: Mad JohnFor all practical purposes, yes.

They’ve gone the way of Squidoo and Hubpages – while they (still) have some PageRank, they give no real link-love (no-follow links) and so are too difficult to submit to in terms of time compared to the benefits you get back.

Next, the best have to be personally reviewed, which means waiting for perhaps a week for it to show up.

Others rightfully look out for PLR articles, but essentially go overboard and request that you only write for them.

Now there are some SEO spammers who are out for backlinks and will use some really noisome spinning programs in order to get a bunch of backlinks. There are a couple of programs out there which will auto-spin your stuff and then auto submit it to a ton of low-quality Article Directories – which ultimately will backfire on them, if it already hasn’t.

If you check out the link in that heading, you’ll see some figure out about how a person could possibly make article marketing work. You’ll see how arduous it is to get anywhere with this stuff. And the only people I hear still touting this are either almost entirely published on article directories or haven’t updated their content in several years (Google has moved on, boys.)

Outside of the small communities out there which live on the sites (mostly authors themselves, I imagine, not people who make any serious money from articles) – there just aren’t anyone who’s all that interested in articles. The sites who do republish articles are content desperate – because there is no SEO benefit in having yet another copy of that article on your site.

And the backlinks you might get from an article reposted on someone else’s site are all the same backlink – which Google is now alerting about as another form of spam they are looking for.

How many times does one of their articles show up in a top position? Practically only where there are really, really long-tail niche keywords involved. And this usually means no one runs ads for these as they aren’t easily monetized.

Which means they’ve gone the route of Hubpages and Squidoo. Had to push up quality to extreme limits to avoid a Google slap. And their interfaces require hand editing to ensure no spam-bots can get in.

Sure, they’re still around, but hardly ever show up above page 3. Meaning they are going to send you next to nothing for traffic.

Now, when you weigh the point that it takes extra effort to post these articles (meaning it’s a helluva lot longer to do – more time investment) and that you can’t put links inside the body (except for a few of them), then it’s really a waste of time to even put this into your online marketing mix.

This rant is all the result of trying to submit a routine content flow into the very top article directory, only to run up against one of their very picky editors who wouldn’t let it go, and kept rejecting this article (which I simply should have abandoned and deleted.) This then put my whole scene on “review” while they decided whether I should be given another “trial” period.

Look, I’ve written, edited, and published over 4 dozen books. I have at least as many blogs out there. There’s a blog I haven’t updated in months which still gets over 1,000 visitors a day. On top of that, I’ve got 7 degrees (FWIW). So don’t tell me I don’t know how to put a sentence together.

The funny thing is that according to some forums, you don’t even have to spin your articles for these Article Directories anymore. Just brashly post to as many as you want under the same name – the ones which will accept them way outnumber the ones which won’t.  Of course, that won’t do you much good SEO-wise, which is what the forum posters pointed out.

In short – other than for vanity publishing – article directories are dead.

They’ve been replaced by blogs, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, etc.

So what’s a prolific author to do? Go where it’s easier to get your content posted. Not the article directories – the social media. “They don’t care ‘nuthin’ about no stinkin’ grammer.”

The king is dead, long live the king.

10K Challenge Review – Are “Horse Blinders” Necessary to Success?

Posted by Thrivelearning on September 16, 2012

10K MLM Review – How to Build a Downline Using Horse-Blinders

Horse blinders are good for horses, maybe not for MLMHorse Blinders are very useful – they keep a horse from becoming distracted by objects and actions which occur to each side of them as they pull their load.  The horses don’t go to either side, they just stay focused on the road ahead.

This is how the 10K Challenge works: It has a specific set of simple work actions which you complete daily and as you continue on, this will build. You eventually get people signing up under you and they start the same actions and so get people under them and so on.

There are advantages and disadvantages to this scene. The key point is that the training is short and duplicatable – but to me, this simplicity hides the downsides.

At the 10K Challenge’s program core are 3 programs to eventually join which in turn give you income when someone joins under you. So your investments multiply. Your your one payment for each service then comes back to you several times as people sign up below you.

This works by using safelists – which are ways people can get their advertisements in front of other people, in exchange for viewing other’s ads. You subscribe to their lists and get emails to view the ads.

The trick on this is to use Gmail to organize the incoming emails. You set up new gmail accounts so these emails come to them, not your main email account. And setting up filters by where these are coming from, you can then separate out the emails and also view them in tabs. So you open all the ones from a particular company and then go back to the beginning and verify you’ve done all that’s needed to qualify for the points you need.

The key point is to not actually view the ads, but let them sit until the timer is done – verifying that you’ve gotten credit for watching that ad. In some cases, you need to enter a verification code. You simply filter them in gmail, and then open them all in tabs at once. Then work from one to the next, verifying you’ve gottent the credits.

The additional blinder to use is to turn off the sound. (These ads have auto-start video’s and audios just to pull you in.)

The ads you are sending out in exchange for “watching” – promote the 10K challenge.

Sweet, huh? You’ve proofed yourself against having to read any ads while you send out ads telling people how to make money from the safelists they’ve already signed up for.

Additional to this, you set up a Google+ page to get people who will in turn sign up for the 10K program.

Now all these safelists also have affiliate programs. You enter your code on the appropriate page in the 10K program and then when the other people you sign up below you pay their fees (as you will need to do as well), then they repay you for your expenses in this program. And eventually, you start getting far more money in than you are investing yourself.

The great part about this is that it’s systemized, with pre-written ads, and actually fulfills promises that you can work part time to make a decent full time income. Now the realistic expectation is that this will takes months to get this all rolling and a stable income coming in. This is not get-rich-quick (as if anything ever were.)  And you don’t have to do face-to-face selling, so that’s another plus.

This program really fulfills a great many of the promises which people who want to work-from-home, but have no experience in a marketing, or running a business – this is probably a perfect match. Because just having and doing a job is what most of us are used to, and good at.

So if you take a half-hour of concentrated work each day and just do these repetitive tasks as laid out, you can eventually (several months) build a nice downline which is sending you affiliate and MLM commissions every month. Stable and regular income. Slow and steady, delayed gratification wins the race.

In fact, I’d give this to any student going through school, particularly in high school, as a way to make extra money. The more dedicated they stay at this – and do it on a “homework” basis – the more money they can make. After all, they have years of grind to get through – might as well make it pay.

And the upper limits are really not set – it could grow remarkably large. All just on 30 minutes or so each day.

There are 3 downsides to this, which are big enough that I won’t be doing it, however.

1. It doesn’t give enough value to leverage quick enough.
2. It doesn’t build you a real business which you can leverage.
3. You never get the training necessary to break into the really big opportunities – meaning that you never learn marketing or leadership skills to really succeed.

You see, I think people are here to get educated on leading a better life. And they’re here to help others succeed. While the 10K Challenge program is a great little scene, it’s short on education. You simply learn how to copy/paste ads and rinse/repeat. You don’t really learn any more skills to get better at dealing with life.

That said, it will give you an income to buy you the time where you can invest in other opportunities which do have the personal development training you’ll require later.

For my money, the best program I’ve run across is the Funded Proposal as Mike Dillard and Mark Hall promote. Reason being is that by building a list, you have an actual business. With lists, you can build client relationships where they will want to exchange their income for your information. The funded proposal covers your cost of advertising, similar to the safelists. Plus you ultimately get the the best of these people to inquire about your primary opportunity. Meanwhile, you have been introducing them to marketing and business skills they will need to take advantage of the fastest-growing opportunities out there.

Everyone wins big time, even if the people on your list never get into Network Marketing personally.

So, as a test of network marketing itself, the 10K Challenge is a good start. And it will give you some experience and extra income while you then acquire the training you need – so you can get into the real fast lane with your Funded Proposal.

Finding people critical of your efforts and your MLM success?

Posted by Thrivelearning on September 15, 2012

Why No One Seems to Appreciate Your Network Marketing Success

Get appreciated for telling people about your network marketing opportunity. The numbers are against you. Really — it is mathematically probable that becoming an MLM success story is not going to get you any favor with your current friends and associates.

It’s this recurring point that in any given opportunity: 97% won’t do anything with it – and only 3% will take the plunge.

Out of those 3%, 97% won’t make it work and just 3% will make it profitable.

And you can guess how many will actually make an outrageous success story…

That’s right – just 3% of that last bunch. This means that roughly 3 out of a hundred will decide to do some sort of network marketing at all. About 2 in a thousand will be able to make it pay for itself. And only 1 in 10,000 will actually become incredibly rich at it.

But that’s OK, we both know that you are one of those tiny few.

This article was to explain how this makes you unpopular.

Mike Dillard, in one of his free bootcamp videos, states that the reason can be summed up as: People are basically lazy. They’d rather learn to do something than actually do it.

That also explains what their reaction is to what you are doing.

Another problem which unsuccessful people have is their habit of criticizing and fault-finding with everything they see. Now ancient texts teach us that this is because they are self-criticizing all the time. (As without, so within.) And so they never really get out of needing a J-O-B and all the structure it entails. They aren’t going to see the advantage of leverage which a multi-level marketing opportunity affords. Can’t take the jump, don’t have the personal faith to take that leap.

What does this say about those 97% who never take up the offer at all?

They’re everywhere.

And which proves the general statement that “The most expensive advice is free.

Of course, this also shows you how you can make your own success even faster:

  1. Start associating more with people who are positive and supporting.
  2. Keep your network marketing plans to yourself.

Now that might seem to violate what your uplines tells you about contacting everyone within 3 foot radius, and making that 100-name list.

And yes, it does. Because the fastest way to wear out your welcome is to go chasing after all your friends and family about what you’re doing and why they should join your opportunity. Because most of them don’t want to hear about it – they are already insecure enough in their J-O-B, and retirement is just a decade or two away and they don’t want to risk it, etc.

But Dillard also gives out the solution to this scene: quit chasing prospects – attract them.

Out of that 100 people, you’ll get 3 that are honestly interested in what you are doing and how.

Once you interview them to find out what their training actually is, then maybe – just maybe – they’d be a good fit into your downline. But don’t sign them up unless they actually are going to prove to be a good fit.

What do you do with the other 97%? Well, you can recall that they like to be trained. It’s another form of entertainment for their spare time when they aren’t working. You offer them training courses which will tell them what they need to do to make themselves a success. And they will gladly pay for this.

Those payments cover the cost of the marketing you have to do in order to get 3 out of 100 to sign up.

This is a system Dillard promotes, which is called the Funded Proposal.

Of course, I’ve only given you the basics of this – but the point was to tell you to quit working hard at prospecting for your Network Marketing, and start working smarter. (Also, to give you the data so you can change who you are associating with and get an actual working team or MasterMind group to help you succeed even faster!)

>What are "CLA’s" and "Omega 3 and 6’s"?!?

Posted by Thrivelearning on March 14, 2011

>

Here’s some scientific jargon you can throw around during Missouri parties or at work to impress your friends and associates: “Omega 3 and 6, and CLA’s.”

Now sit down, this get’s thick. Following is a “simple” explanation from Kate Clancy, a senior scientist in the Union of Concerned Scientists – from a March 2006 publication called “Greener Pastures: How grass-fed beef and milk contribute to healthy eating.

The three omega-3 fatty acids—the so-called beneficial fatty acids—have been shown in many studies to improve health and prevent disease in humans. CLA has attracted attention because it has demonstrated many beneficial effects in animal studies. We have focused on the levels of these fats in milk and meat from pasture-raised cattle because, beyond their intrinsic value, widespread interest in these substances among health-conscious consumers could help shift American agriculture from conventional to pasture-based feeding systems. >Why our Missouri prime beef is striped…

Posted by Thrivelearning on March 13, 2011

>We did (and continue to do) substantial research on cattle breeds. Black Angus is predominate in the commodity-driven prime beef Missouri production. While this breed was originally a British/Scottish breed, it’s “Americanization” has produced a large-frame cattle with various traits that mostly have to do with fattening quickly on a corn-based diet after they are weaned. This commodity approach with its feedlot base is unfortunately responsible for most of the bad press that beef has gotten in the last quarter-century.

We have been working for the last several years to move to grass-finished beef. So we looked around for the different breeds which did best on just grass. In the middle of this, we found that a medium-framed animal was more efficient in turning forage (grasses, clover, etc.) into muscle. As well, smaller-sized animals fit into people’s freezers and budgets better.

The Galloway is a Scottish breed, raised to survive on just about anything it can find during those long, harsh Scottish winters. Very similar to the Highland, except they are polled (no horns). The more commonly found version of this is belted, meaning it has a white belt in it’s middle. This is from their being crossed with the “Dutch Belted” breed some generations back. They are known as “Belties”.
